Get Out! Local Parks & Open Spaces

March 12, 2010

Dana Park, Cambridgeport

Living in a city as packed with people as Somerville (the most densely populated city in New England) and Cambridge (falling not far behind), our personal outdoor space is generally limited to a small deck or patio — if we’re lucky! Fortunately, we do have access to a variety of public resources that allow us to get out and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air – here’s a sampling:

Parks, Open Spaces, Trails:
City of Cambridge Parks and Open Spaces
City of Somerville Parks and Open Spaces
Department of Conservation’s Parks in Greater Boston
Friends of the Community Path (Somerville)
Charles River Esplanade
Fresh Pond Reservoir

Community Gardens:
City of Cambridge Community Gardening
City of Somerville Community Gardens

Dog-Friendly Parks:
Somerville Dog Owners’ Brochure
Cambridge Off-Leash Dog Areas

Just Out of Town:
Walden Pond State Reservation
The Blue Hills Reservation
Middlesex Fells Reservation
