Wanted to share a little sanity amidst the media hype about the real estate market: In this op-ed piece, A Dream House After All, Karl Case (of S&P Case-Schiller index fame) talks about why a home still has inherent value, if you have realistic expectations. The bit about saving 30% when you buy a home now obviously doesn’t apply in our market, but other than that, the reasoning is sound.
